‘I’m Okay?’ Exhibition

It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye – The Little Prince

Teen’s Key was very happy to have partnered with wind-area, and co-curated the ‘I’m Okay?’ Art Exhibition with 3 talented local Hong Kong artists – CaxtonCax, Celine Ka Wing Lau & Dreamwalking Girl. The event was held from 18 to 29 July 2022. It included two exclusive Teen’s Key sharing sessions on 21, 22 and a Teen’s Key Girls exclusive session on 28 July, in Sheung Wan (the WildLot).

The exhibition aimed at showcasing the resilience journey of marginalized young females, including sex workers, pregnant teens & young moms, in Hong Kong. Their doubt, fear, sadness and happiness have been turned into artworks to show how they struggle and survive in times of adversity. Visitors were also able to reflect on their own well-being by asking themselves the question ‘are you okay?’. It is hoped that the exhibition would provide the community with a new perspective on these young ‘life fighters’.

Part of the proceeds will be donated to Teen’s Key Hong Kong. We hope the community will listen to each of their stories patiently. What they need are opportunities but not sympathy. Let’s support them!

Teen’s Key Internship Summer Programme (June – Aug)

This year, the application of Teen’s Key Internship Summer Programme received very encouraging responses. Interviews were arranged to select suitable participants in June. The Selection Panel has finally chosen 7 of our dedicated members and 4 undergraduate interns to join this meaningful programme.

The 4-week training workshop has enhanced our participants’ IT knowledge and communication skills. Upon completion, they started working part-time in our service hub mainly to plan for the sex education programmes and year-end projects. Duties include packing, brainstorming ideas, promotions, booking venues and a lot more.

Through collaboration, we hope our peer educators will learn together and support one another.

Words from intern- Abby

“Working as a publicity officer intern at Teen’s Key is a really fruitful and engaging experience!” – Abby

Hello everyone! I am Abby, a year one student studying social sciences at HKU. I am really glad that I was given the opportunity to join Teen’s Key. It is a very unique organisation that is dedicated to an important and essential cause. I was really impressed by the dedication of the staff here! I was able to use my skills and knowledge to help organise different workshops and activities at Teen’s Key. For example, I get to help organise the ‘I’m Okay?’ exhibition which allowed me to plan and decorate the venue, exhibits, and events. Working at Teen’s Key really opened up my eyes! The team here let me know more about the reality of what is really happening in the society, the truth behind the scenes. I hope I can continue to make use of my skills and knowledge to contribute to Teen’s Key’s cause.

‘FreeFlow’ Body Movement Art Camp

Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the 3-year Jockey Club ‘FreeFlow’ Body Movement Project aims to improve the wellbeing of young females, nurturing curiosity, celebrating body diversity, and cultivating gender awareness.

Through the tailor-made Cloud Gate Dance School’s LifePulse curriculum, participants will be encouraged to explore the potential of their unique minds and bodies through flow, movement, and interactions with others. Their creative instincts and innate sense of rhythm can enable them to see and experience their lives in new perspectives.

This summer, we have organized a Body Movement Art Camp for our members. Participants had a chance to discuss the values of females in society, how to live with pride when facing challenges and even we played and dressed our preciousness in a ‘LOVE’ tee. One of the coaches- Adele stated it was a very touching experience.
