Learning and Connecting: Our Frontline Team’s Trip to Kaohsiung

Last month, our frontline outreach team headed to Kaohsiung for a meaningful training session hosted by the Taipei Women’s Rescue Foundation, focused on supporting career transitions for those working in the sex industry.

There is something incredibly grounding about meeting fellow advocates who walk the same path. This trip allowed our team to look past geographic and cultural differences, helping us connect more deeply with the real, lived experiences of young women working in the sex industry from different backgrounds.

In our day-to-day work, we already see firsthand how incredibly difficult it can be for these young women to transition to other fields due to financial strains or limited job skills, and the heavy toll it takes on their mental health. That is why it was so heartening to find that our peers in Taiwan care just as deeply about the girls’ mental well-being as we do, always approaching their work with a completely non-judgmental heart.

We are really looking forward to taking the storytelling skills we picked up during this exchange and weaving them into our upcoming volunteer training. We hope that by sharing these narratives with more warmth and empathy, we can help the public truly see and understand the realities these young women navigate every day.
