Cracking the Code of Workplace Communication

Navigating workplace communication is a complex challenge. Many young women at Teen’s Key stumble in their early careers, often resigning simply because they “do not get along with colleagues” or “cannot get along with the boss.” In response, we hosted a “Workplace Communication Workshop” led by Leadership and Career Coach Dora Leung. The session guided the girls on how to build a strong first impression, confidently say “no” at work, and decode hidden office norms.

The workshop sparked enthusiastic discussions, moving from daily interactions to strategies for handling office power dynamics. Dora addressed very real dilemmas, such as how to communicate with an overly laid-back boss, how to protect oneself when used as a “shield” by colleagues, and even how to handle social pressure—like being criticized for “not being a team player” just because you bring lunch instead of eating out. We wish to see these insights guiding girls to face conflicts calmly, maintain healthy boundaries, and remain in their roles for the right reasons.
