SAGAMI X Teen’s Key Condom DIY Workshop:Condom Myths Debunked

Did you know what materials condoms are made from? And how many types of lubricants exist? Many people do not fully understand condoms!

A big thank you to Sagami for hosting a DIY condom workshop for our Teen’s Key girls. This workshop not only allowed everyone to experience the process of making latex condoms, but it also enhanced their understanding of materials such as latex, polyurethane (PU), and polyisoprene (PI). Participants learned how to tell the difference between water-based, silicone-based, and oil-based lubricants. One of the Teen’s Key girls mentioned that the workshop was both enjoyable and informative, helping her to realize that thinner condoms are not necessarily more prone to breaking, which helped her debunk some common myths about condoms.

After the workshop, our frontline staff also conducted a session on reproductive health, explaining other contraceptive methods beyond condoms. However, we want to emphasize once again that using condoms correctly remains the only effective way to prevent sexually transmitted infections.
