Nurturing Potential and Building Safety Nets: Sharing Our Vision with EMpower

Recently, Teen’s Key had the privilege of joining a wine tasting evening hosted by EMpower’s Leadership Council member, Song Yang Lee, where we spent a meaningful night sharing our story and vision.

Hong Kong often presents a picture of prosperity, yet beneath the surface, many young women grow up in high-risk environments with scarce opportunities. It is easy for any of us to live inside a comfortable bubble, sometimes missing the subtle struggles faced by other communities.

We often compare youth development to winemaking: helping a young person bloom takes patience, deep care, and time. Just as fine wine relies on every stage of the process, supporting a young woman requires a dedicated community working together.

Through our work, we have learned that true empowerment is about helping young women discover their inner strength and rebuild their confidence. That is why we focus on creating safe spaces where marginalized girls can explore their potential. Through internships with us, they gain hands-on experience in outreach and sexuality education, and even lead their own events. This journey helps them step into leadership roles, allowing them to eventually mentor and support their peers.

We are truly grateful to all the guests for their warm engagement and support. Conversations like this remind us of the power of connection and inspire us to keep walking alongside the young women we serve.
