Heart as Our Guide, Light by Our Side: Celebrating 15 Years of Teen’s Key and the Launch of Our Emergency Fund
This April, we officially launched our 15th-anniversary celebrations with a heartwarming Saturday afternoon Homecoming Party. The past decade and a half has been vital in building a strong foundation for our mission. Having supported over 90,000 young women to date, we owe our steady progress to the unwavering trust of our donors, board members, sponsors, partners, volunteers, and former colleagues. This gathering was our way of expressing our deepest gratitude to friends, both old and new, who stand as the ultimate pillars of support for vulnerable girls.
Looking Back at 15 Years of Milestones
Beyond giving thanks, the event offered a perfect moment to reflect and look forward. We designed a special anniversary gallery to highlight key projects and achievements from our inception. Championing the rights of vulnerable young women is a journey filled with challenges, yet we consistently rise to the occasion, knowing that every lesson learned makes us stronger. As our major donor Mr. Tim Freshwater beautifully noted in his speech, we eagerly anticipate gathering with everyone again to celebrate our next great milestone.
Becoming Each Other’s Light
Every step we have taken over the last 15 years has been guided by the trust of the girls we serve and the selfless dedication of our volunteers. Together, we witness profound growth and transformation. A touching sharing session by a senior volunteer and a young mother served as a beautiful testament to this bond. To the volunteer, Teen’s Key is a secure space where adults and youth can genuinely connect through mutual understanding, respect, and trust. For the young mother who once felt lost, our community acted as a guiding light piercing through the fog, helping her rediscover her true self. Authentic stories like these fuel our determination to keep going.
Launching the Teen’s Key Emergency Fund & Educational Bursary
For these young women, Teen’s Key is more than just a guiding light; it is a safe space where their minds and bodies can find true peace. During the interactive display in our Counselling Room, we invited the girls to describe what Teen’s Key means to them. Overwhelmingly, they wrote “safe haven.”
To transform this emotional safety into tangible assistance, we are marking our 15th anniversary by setting a new three-year goal. We are officially launching the “Teen’s Key Emergency Fund and Educational Bursary” with a fundraising target of HK$1,000,000. This initiative will enable us to deliver comprehensive support precisely when it is needed most. Staying true to our anniversary theme “Heart as Our Guide, Light by Our Side”, we remain committed to our core mission, ensuring that every vulnerable girl in crisis finds the key to unlock a brighter future within our safe haven.
