Facing Unplanned Pregnancy: Learning Options, Respecting Bodily Autonomy

What should a young woman do when faced with an unplanned pregnancy? Experience from our past support services for unplanned pregnancies has shown us that many girls feel overwhelmed and panicked. To support them effectively, we believe in starting from the root—comprehensive sexuality education. That’s why our Youth Personal Growth and Comprehensive Sexuality Education Program includes an Unplanned Pregnancy Workshop designed to help secondary students understand their options and where to seek help.

Through a soci game, students walk through key steps: taking a pregnancy test, deciding whether to continue or terminate the pregnancy, and finding relevant services and resources. Along the way, they learn practical pathways for different situations and why respecting bodily autonomy matters.

Recently, volunteers from The Estée Lauder Companies joined our workshop. They fully embraced their roles—as public hospital doctors, underground doctors, pharmacy staff, and social workers—guiding a group of Form 3 students to identify and choose from community resources. One volunteer shared that it was an eye-opening experience and hoped it would spark deeper conversations among youth about boundaries, consent, and safe sex. We hope more like-minded partners will join us, so we can take our vision even further together.
