Beyond the Gap: Unlocking the Potential of Young Mothers

“Why is there such a long gap in your CV?”
“You are a mother; does that mean you cannot work overtime?”

Young mothers frequently encounter these questions when seeking employment. Many employers still hold stereotypes, questioning whether mothers are able to work late or if they have become disconnected from society.

We believe that young mothers possess immense potential. Although they left the workforce temporarily due to pregnancy, many intend to return. We organized a “Resume Workshop” to teach them how to write a resume that demonstrates their strengths. We hope this becomes the first step toward their dream job and provides a confidence boost for those struggling in their search.

Laam, a young mother planning to return to the workforce, worried about how to explain her employment gap in future interviews. Yet, this “gap” was far from empty. While caring for her child, she served as a weaving class instructor and completed an internship with us—experiences that helped her grow. Through the workshop, she learned how to transform these experiences into impressive skills on her resume to showcase her unique value.

As we continue to provide career planning services for young mothers, we also hope to see more family-friendly employment practices across society. This way, young mothers can re-enter the workforce and explore more possibilities in their lives.
