【Macau Exchange】Bridging the Service Gap: Reaffirming Our Mission

This month, Teen’s Key engaged in meaningful exchanges with our counterparts in Macau. We were honored to welcome representatives from The Health Bureau of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region. Additionally, our entire team traveled to Macau during our retreat to connect with Christian New Life Fellowship in Macau – S.Y. Tribe and the Sheng Kung Hui North District Youth Service Team. This cross-border dialogue offered not only a glimpse into youth work across the water but also a valuable opportunity for self-reflection.

“Our work truly fills the ‘Service Gap’,” reflected our Executive Director, Megan Yik. We observed that, due to limited resources, frontline workers in both cities often struggle to prioritize the needs of youth regarding sexual health and intimate relationships. This realization reaffirms the unique and essential value of Teen’s Key in supporting high-risk young women and championing comprehensive sexuality education.

Moving forward, we are eager to strengthen collaboration between Hong Kong and Macau. We aim to provide training on gender awareness for frontline workers and work together to formulate service strategies, weaving a tighter safety net for young people. As we believe, “Only by fostering cross-border cooperation can we ensure our community receives the holistic support it deserves.”
